Through writing my blogs about Anna Maria Geertruida Kodde, my favorite ancestress, I have found family! To be exact I found her grandchildren. Geertje, as I call her, is my great-grandmother.
Last summer I had a reaction on my blog from a grandson of Geertje. Of course I was very pleased with that. Because of problems with my mailbox I deleted all mails and with that, I also lost the email of the relative. In January of this year I received another reaction on a blog. This was another grandson of Geertje, the brother of the one who had reacted before. They didn't know that they had both reacted. So I got a second chance, how very special! These two men have a sister, she was named after her grandmother and her name is Anna Maria Geertruida too, and I have had contact with her too. These three people are the children of Anna Adriana, the youngest daughter of Geertje. Geertje died in child bed two weeks after Anna Adriana, named Annie, was born. Annie also didn't get very old, she died fifty years ago at the age of 48 years. The theme of mothers that died young went on for another generation.
These family members weren't able to help me a lot with facts. Because of their mother dying so young, they don't know much about the family's connections. There was not much contact. I learned that there were, except for my grandmother, more people in the family with not such social characters. I think they took after their father, Geertje's husband, who was not known because of his sunny character.
So I know a bit more now. Geertje's given name is probably Geertruida and her children were all placed out of the house after her death, but not with family. So I will go on searching for information. When writing these blogs I never thought of family reacting on them, so it was very nice when this happened!
