#garden I'm almost always doing something, the sweetest thing with my hands, I like to touch things, feel the structure and shapes, virtually no matter what it is.
Working in the garden I love, what you encounter, warmth and the smell of earth I always enjoy.
As a teenager I already planted plants and from the age of 25 I have a vegetable garden. Am I a specialist? No absolutely not, I do know a thing or two but most of the things I do on feeling and often without elaborated plan, the main lines are in my head but further how it comes out,. Could it be better? Fine next time,.
I do not use poison and fertilizer, I catch caterpillars manually and always hope that the birds will also help. If eg 1 cabbage is affected I leave it as long as possible, I think it is a weak specimen and then the rest is left alone, often works well.
Compost heap I always do only a small one, I like to throw everything right in the rows and under the plants, protects against dehydration, gives structure and bugs to the ground and digested well.
My passion is really vegetable, I like to have an empty piece of land, a bag of seeds and then see something develop and that is also edible.
Healthy and cheap, money does not grow on my back.
Flowers I also have and I like cuttings and sowing.
Herbs I'm not at home. Like a few other Yoorsians, I have the pots in the closet. But I do want to delve into it and help has already been promised, I like to learn and find fresh from my own garden just super tasty.
How do I work.
I do organic gardening, no more and no less. No lunar phases and modern methods.
Milling my garden with a machine, the opinions are divided but it is very convenient, fast and works fine, the Portuguese do no different and also have good harvests.
I put everything in a row, just old-fashioned, I like that to see and it's convenient to keep track of.
The Portuguese learned to put plants in trenches, that is easier watering and you also need much less water. Good experiences gained.
Furthermore very simple, enjoy and enjoy.
Here in Portugal we are a few weeks ahead of the Netherlands in terms of the season, but for me that is always getting used to, mostly I am late with sowing and planting.
I look a lot at the neighbors and of course a chat on time, especially not being stubborn I think.
My garden is about 250 square meters, which includes space for flowers, plants, fruits and vegetables. Place sat for me alone and my old age.
What have I put and sown in the last few days.
Lettuce, onions, cabbage, strawberry plants and garlic, peas, white cabbage, romanesco, eggplant, lettuce, zucchini, butter peas and throats sown and laid.
I already had an orange tree, mandarin tree and plum tree and planted black fig, black blackberry, plum, cherry, apple and nectarine.
Buy some trees this week.
Below some pictures of my beginning.
