November 8th Piper Day.

In 1983, November 8 was formalized as the piper's day in homage to Ricardo Aguirre “El Monumental”, since it was that date on which the “Padre de la Bagpiper”, composer of the hymn of bagpipes such as “La Grey Zuliana”, died in a traffic accident.

Aguirre also composed songs such as Maracaibo marginada, Flor del Habana, Traditional Coupe. These successes represent for the Zulians the feeling of their social needs and demands. On this date, every year, the important work carried out by pipers in this region is recognized.
