Japanse Tuin Clingendael Wassenaar


Als kind namen mijn ouders me regelmatig mee voor een wandeling op Landgoed Clingendael in Wassenaar. Net buiten Den Haag ligt dit landgoed met toch wel een rijke geschiedenis. Als je je verdiept in de historie van het landgoed kom je wel wat namen tegen uit je geschiedenisboeken. In de 16e eeuw is er een groot huis gebouwd door Philips Doubleth III. Het huis werd een centrum van kunst en cultuur. Zijn schoonvader Constantijn Huijgens was daarbij een belangrijk persoon. Een andere bekende naam stamt uit de 2e wereldoorlog. In deze oorlog werd het huis bewoond door Seyss-Inquart. Het landgoed heeft een mooie Japanse tuin die maar enkele weken per jaar toegankelijk is. Het landgoed is gewoon open voor publiek om te wandelen.
