I feel stressed, empty and incomplete at times, I know I'm not the only one

 Eunice Frijde

Dear friend,

When we apply wisdom and knowledge to our lives, we are like birds with two wings and we fly. High in the sky, free from all that keeps us enclosed in a cage. We perch when we need to and we fly because we can. On earth we find our food, while in the sky we glide without limits.

A bird trusts his wings, he knows how they work and therefore it feels guided wherever it flies. A bird has faith; have you ever seen a bird fall from the sky because of distracting thoughts or disturbing emotions?

A bird in a cage

I know I have distracting thoughts and disturbing emotions such as anger, jealousy, fear, desire and ignorance. I know they suppress me and keep me locked in a cage. Sometimes I explore the space in the cage, and then I can feel the cold walls, hear the rattle of the bars and smell the iron metal. Is this my comfort zone?

Free to fly

Then I look through the bars and I see the world of possibilities such as love, kindness, freedom and happiness. I know I’m free to be who I want to be; to do what I love to do; to be happy and be the best version of myself. I can live my dream! But still my feet are planted firmly in the cage.

Sometimes the door opens and the sweet taste of freedom enters.  At those times, I want to fly out, I try to fly out and my feet are ready to take off to embrace my purpose. But my feet refuse to float. What is happening? Why am I still in the cage? I take a good look at myself. Darn, I only have one wing

I know now that I'm not the only one who felt like a Bird with One Wing in a certain period of their life; feeling miserable and trapped in their body, life, relationship or work. Are you feeling trapped at this moment? Always know that there is a beautiful world waiting for you outside the cage!

Do you feel empty and incomplete? Like a bird with one wing or trapped in a cage?  As a Life Purpose Coach I want to invite you to do the following practice.

Practice:  Take some quiet time for yourself. Focus on your breath! Inhale deeply, and exhale all the air out of your lungs. Repeat this cycle three times. Simply relax and enjoy this quality time with yourself.

When you are relaxt, ask yourself the following question: 'What can I do today that makes me truly happy?'

Write down the answer in your journal and go out (of that cage) and do it!

If you need help finding the answer to the question: What can I do today that makes me truly happy. Or if you need support to take the first step toward making it happen?

A friendly smile,

Don't want to be negative but I guess we're all in some kind of invisable cage. Think we're free but we're really not...

Hi Ingrid, Thanks for your comment. You aren't being negative. Your comment is on topic! A very good observation. The beauty of it is, that when we are truly aware we are holding ourselves locked in some kind of invisible cage, we can also find the key and fly out. This brings me back to the first alinea of the story, A Bird with One Wing.... More in the upcoming stories #purposeeveryday
