The Lettersetter is an insect that drills itself into the bark of Spruce and then under the bark all roads make kind of letters from there the name lettersetter. This is not at all good if this happens because then the spruce must all be cut down. They then probe all the trees in the area to all the bark literally falls off the trees. When I'm walking and I see a forest where all the bark is next to the trees, I walk up to one of those trees to see if the lettersetter is on it. This is quite often the case lately! I walked the week in the forest ranger Hooghalen (heart of Drenthe) and there I saw a lot of trees where the lettersetter was on, I always find this very bad because you know that these trees will all be cut down, and this while so much is being cut down which is not due to the lettersetter. In Drenthe , the lettersetter is also common.
The pictures from above I made in the forest ranger Hooghalen (Drenthe) here it is good to see that the lettersetter has demolished quite a lot. I think it's a shame. Such a little creature destroys an entire forest.
