The term time zone refers to how the world is bifurcated through time as per longitude and latitude. In the world, time is calculated geographically, represent through hours or ahead of GMT. Specifying, the authentic standard time zone in turkey is measured through UTCGMT+3 hours.  However, cartographers have drawn time zone maps as per internal and international borders to elaborated time zones. In fact, International Date Line (IDL) has created 3 time zones, and the rest of the time zones are based upon 20 and 45 minutes at a distance. Such kind variations make the total number of time zone worldwide that is much higher.

Going back to 2016, the Turkish government declared that “they will not be observing DST anymore, putting an end to adjusting the clocks every spring and fall seasons, to best utilize daylight” (Fleming,2020).

Throughout Turkey, there is a single time zone before 2016. But in 2016, turkey’s time zone mobile through Eastern European time, even, 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Meantime (GMT/UTC, Coordinated Universal Time). It happened in each season except spring to autumn when daylight saving time showed 3-hours ahead of GMT.

It happened all time except spring-to-autumn, which is known as Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving time is effective for turkey people to save energy. Turkey is one of the various countries where the annual clock changes but remained the same in the summer time zone in 2016 (Küfeoğlu, 2021). Historically, Benjamin Franklin introduced the concept of Daylight-Saving Time (DST) in 1784 (Prerau, 2005). His objective was to conserve energy which decreases the usage of article lights (Kotchen and Grant, 2011).  However, DST has considered the cause to develop interest among audiences more than a century later.

It has been experienced that most of the Turkish residents took the initiative to express frustration on social media on time zone. In actual condition, "The hour hasn't changed in Turkey like it usually does at this time of year," one British, who did not want to be named, said on Facebook.
"We're on special 'Erdogan time' as he decided not to implement daylight savings until after the election. Unfortunately, while he CAN hold back time, he CAN'T hold back automatic clocks which seem to have gone ahead and changed the hour regardless. Hence we're all very confused."
