10 “Modern” Christmas Carols
Christmas is just about 15 weeks away and already his Wham!, Mariah Carey and Youp no longer save the radio stations. Turn on any radio station and you'll hear it “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart” oh dear. there are so few Christmas carols? Probably not, but yes. Dusting and broadcasting “that same Christmas list” every year is easier. Anyway, to put my own spin on this festive season, here's my list of 10 Modern Christmas Carols. I have taken into account as much as possible that it is not an old song in the version of a contemporary popular artist, but it looked at a lesser fame and whether it is not by chance 30 years old or something.
10: " Silent Hill “- Thomas Howard. We're going back into my childhood, it's around the turn of the century when I play Dance Dance Revolution 3 game on the Playstation. I was able to entertain myself for hours and days with the Eurodance and 90s remixes that could be played on the CD. One jumped out: Silent Hill. A somewhat quieter Christmas carol between the up tempo violence. Although it hasn't been commercially turned as far as I know, I'm glad I was able to add it to my Youtube list for the holidays. The message is simple: Love on Christmas days may be appointed once extra, an “I love you” can definitely be said:)
9: " I'll Be There This Christmas “- Gary Fomdeck. Ah yes, Gary Fomdeck, during the Serious Request event in 2014, it was announced that Gary was none other than 3FM DJ Gerard Ekdom! The song was first requested in 2014 during Serious Request, whose proceeds could go to that year's charity. Personally, I think it's a great song, especially when you consider that Gerard is not a professional singer either, he has had the right people around him to make this happen. A simple topic where you can sit back at home with your loved ones after a “year of work”. I hope this will be played for many years to come.
8: " What If “- Kate Winslet. Ok, this may not really be a Christmas carol, but still this one featured in the Christmas Carol movie where Winslet speaks to one of the characters. According to the stories, Winslet secretly sang this song and the proceeds would go to charity. What If did more than fine in Europe where it was number 1 in some countries and has been in the top 10 in other countries. Secretly I hope for another (Christmas) song by Kate ^^
7: " Being Alone At Christmas “- Miss Montreal. Released in 2010 by our very own Miss Montreal. The song features classic Christmas elements (Christmas bell sounds, party atmosphere) in a mid-up tempo song. The song is about it's not a disaster when you're alone for Christmas, entertain yourself and maybe next year you'll have someone to share these days with. Despite the somewhat gloomy subject, the song is still quite pleasant to listen to.
