21 June - The International Day of the Giraffe
The longest day of the year, that's June 21. But it is also, every year, the International Day of the Giraffe. I'm sure that's not a coincidence. By the way, June 21 is also the Day of the Long People, but that aside. On this day there is extra attention to the giraffe. That amazing beautiful animal is one of the great mammals. They are beautiful! ButThe giraffes are threatened, their habitat is getting smaller and smaller. This is due to humanity, agriculture and mining. The number of wild giraffes is becoming smaller, of course it is terrible, and we must do something about that!
Now it already happens that on this day there are events to support the giraffe and alert people that the giraffe is not doing well. Zoos, schools, associations, companies, nature organizations and others around the world will pay extra attention to the life of the giraffe on June 21.
DO IT TOO!
On the official site World Giraffe Day (WGD) you can read how the world is committed to the giraffes, and also how you candonating. WGD is directly committed to the giraffe, and can make the difference! But if you don't want to donate, then there are other things you can do, just byto make known to the people. Let everyone know so that we people become aware that we need to be economical zijn op onze natuur, en in het bijzonder need to be economical zijn op de bedreigde diersoorten zoals de giraffe, voordat het te laat is!
Ik ga het delen op Twitter!
