80 children play music in Leerorkest's video clip together with famous musicians.

From their home room 80 children participated in a splitscreen video of the Leerorkest, also called a living room video or coronavideo. Because of the corona restrictions, the children are not allowed to perform in front of the public and precisely now a large lustrum concert was planned by the Leerorkest with 2,000 people in Het Concertgebouw. The video clip was presented yesterday for the first time as the grande finale of the (online) lustrum opening from the Concertgebouw.

Cabaretier Freek de Jonge wrote the lyrics for the lustrum song especially for the Leerorkest, on Verdi's famous opera song Va Pensiero. This song is so popular in Italy that it is called the unofficial anthem of Italy. It is part of the opera Nabucco from 1842 by the composer Giuseppe Verdi.

Children along with famous classical musicians

The children of the Amsterdam Leerorkest play and sing in the video together with famous classical musicians: opera singer Tania Kross, harpist Remy van Kesteren, the Dudok Quartet, musicians of the Dutch Philharmonic Orchest|Dutch Chamber Orchestra and a number of members of the children's choir of New Vocal Amsterdam. These artists would also participate in the big lustrum concert that was postponed to next year because of corona. The children and the musicians each made a recording for themselves at home. In addition, they had a click track in their ear (a tap that indicates the rhythm) so that everyone plays at the same time. The video is assembled in such a way that everyone can be seen and heard together. That's how the children and the musicians are united on this special lustrum day!

Erg leuke video. Mooi geschreven door Freek de Jonge! En mooi uitgevoerd door jullie allen! Een dergelijke video is ook gemaakt door militaire muzikanten. Ook heel leuk om te zien. https://youtu.be/44Rm7Nh7sXU
