#history Trap is one of the most popular musical genres of recent years, it has its origin in Southern Hip Hop in the United States, in the late 1990s. Like traditional Hip Hop, Trap emerged in the marginal sectors of the southern United States, where the drug trade was high, with Atlanta as its center. Its name alludes to drug trafficking and the sectors where this activity was concentrated, which was known as trap or trapicheo.

Among the pioneers of the genre are renowned artists: Outkast, TI and the group D4L. Over time, the style and themes related to it varied, giving life to the current Trap, with exponents such as Gucci Mane, Post Malone, the Spanish singer Kidd Keo and the Latinos, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Micro TDH and Maluma, among others. Currently, the Latin variant of trap (Latin trap) has managed to become a musical phenomenon, completely dominating the urban music scene.
