A different view of fashion
I'm not really into fashion myself, but shopping for new clothes is something I like to do. Just an afternoon, strolling in the shops and looking at nice items that are in the sale. Because really going along with fashion, that's something I don't really do and I've never done before. Only after watching the documentary The True Cost on Netflix, this is an eye-opener on people's greed. And yes, I belong to this too! Because now it is about the garment industry, but in fact it is money in all the areas that we buy as consumers.
WHAT IS THE TRUE COST ABOUT
The true cost is a story about clothing. Which we buy, wear and the impact that this industry has on our world. The price of clothing has declined sharply in recent years, while the rights of mankind, in some countries, are far to seek. The tax on the environment has also increased drastically, so that we can buy the goods for little money.
This documentary shows you who really pays the price for our clothes. For this, they have filmed all over the world, of the world we live in and buy these clothes. But also people who make these clothes and live in slums of Cambodia, India or other countries.
This is just a very brief description of what this documentary is about. That's why I put the trailer of The true cost below and I hope if you have Netflix, watch this documentary! So you can give your own opinion on this topic.
WHAT COSTS DISHONEST CLOTHING, NOW ACTUALLY
You know how you come home and show me what you shopped. A nice dress €9.95, a pair of jeans €19.95, with a nice sweater €9.95 on it. And what you are even more proud of is the total price you paid for it. But you have to be so proud when you realize what these clothes actually cost. Because these people are being treated degrading! Not only are they underpaid, they are still working in an unsafe working environment and even abused. In addition to this degrading working environment, it is also a risk to your own life. Because every day when they go to work, the question is whether they come home again!
