A short story about a lonely child on Sinterklaas night

Saint Nicholas Party in Solitude

It's December 5th; Sinterklaas evening. For many years, the whole of the Netherlands has been in a warm, cosy living room. Especially children's hearts are correct with anticipation. Would Saint Nicholas come tonight? And what I get for goodies and beauty? The Sinterklaas festival is a real party night for the kids.

But not for all kids is the party. There are also lonely children. Children who don't have boyfriends; who invariably have a different position in some way. They are bullied or looked at with the neck. That can be caused by many reasons, but the fact remains that loneliness among children also works on Sinterklaas evening.

For these children, loneliness comes in extra hard on days like December 5. They would also like to be spoiled. But it seems like it's really not for them. They only see the flip side of the coin.

Over the past many months, Denise has been pulled through the mangle in many ways. The months she was unable to go to school due to the lockdown, on the one hand, may have been a liberation. Not being bullied for a while and that's pretty pleasant.
