#JOEPIE ☺ After posting my article about Music Express, the sea transmitter feeling came back to me. After prohibiting by the government of sea channels Radio #Veronica and Radio North Sea on August 31, 1974, I was as a child so happy that Radio #Caroline (from the #zendschip Mi Amigo) continued broadcasting. Due to lack of money, Radio Caroline offered airtime: The Belgian Sylvain Tack was there like the chickens and rented broadcasting time for his artists and called the radio station Mi Amigo. I listened to it a lot and enjoyed all those Belgian commercials; like this JOEPIE with the Joepie Top 50. #Belgisch magazine that focused on youth in Flanders.
Joepie was launched on 28 February 1973 by Guido Van Lieferinge, who was in charge until 2000. The magazine was initially published once every fourteen days; from 5 March 1975 it was switched to a weekly frequency of publication. At the start, Joepie formed a combo with the Joepie Top 50, which was broadcast by Radio Mi Amigo on Saturday afternoon. Joepie and Radio Mi Amigo had one and the same owner: waffle maker Sylvain Tack from Buizingen. After having had problems with the court, Ludo Van Thillo (later the Persgroep) took over his share.
Joepie was published by Magnet Magazines, a daughter of De Persgroep. The target group was twelve to seventeen year olds, mainly girls. According to the CIM, the magazine had a circulation of 90,000 copies, a paid distribution of 59,000 pieces and an average reading range of 350,000 readers. The weekly magazine was published on Tuesday (until 2013 on Wednesday). As a monthly magazine, the magazine appeared every last Wednesday of the month. [3] The editors were in Schelle. With Sylvia Van Driessche as editor in chief, the magazine was an outsider. Despite a declining trend (2.4% in the weekly leaf segment, Joepie showed a growth of almost 1%. [4]
In the summer of 2012 the first Joepie book was released under the title Liefste Joepie. In it you can reread the 40-year Joepie history, including unimproved love letters, questions and answers.
