Incubation?
Part 3.
As Bernadette entered the hall, the other children were leaving. She stood still for a while allowing them to pass. Then she saw Davey, one of Pierre’s class mates stopping and hugging Pierre. While the two were talking she approached them.


“Bye, Pierre!” Davey tried to excuse himself, and started turning away.


“Good evening, Davey,” Bernadette was not going to let him go. Davey had been the only six-year-old, other than Pierre, present at the fight when Bernadette arrived on the scene to break it up. He would have some answers. “Come sit down,” Bernadette putting the tray down on the table offered Davey her serving of pudding.


“Evening Sister.” Davey turned back towards the table, the lure of pudding had him hooked. “More pudding! Wow, gee thanks Sister!” Davey took up a seat next to Pierre in a flash!


Davey sat there, twitching with eagerness as Bernadette watched him through her slitted eyes while saying grace for herself and Pierre. As soon as she ended with “Amen’” Davey dived into the bowl of sago and custard.
