When you love food and cooking as much as I do, almost every conversation ends up being about food at one point. My food, however, is very definitely not what most people are used to. I avoid eat sugar, grains, legumes, or dairy. I will have a little unpasteurised yoghurt every now and then, because I love yoghurt so much, and also because it is the only dairy product that doesn't give me headaches. My sister-in-law, Sara, has also managed to find me a type of bread, that contains so little grains, that it doesn't bother me, as long as I don't overdo it. Other than that, I eat proteins in the form of meat, fish and eggs, fruit and veggies, and healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, and ghee or grass fed butter. Free range, organic duck fat or lard would be good choices, but those are almost impossible to find here. Butter is pretty much my only paleo exception, as I can't always find the time to clarify it and remove the milk solids.

When people first hear about this (and haven't seen me eat yet), they seem to think that, without grains and dairy, there is nothing left for me to eat except meat and healthy fat. "What do you eat? You have got to be starving yourself! I could never keep this up." The thing is, when that is where your focus is, and you think of nothing except what you can't eat, I imagine it does get very hard to keep going.

However, when you stop and consider all the great things you actually do get to eat, nothing could be easier. The people who have actually seen me eat my packed, portable lunches, or my dinners at home, can verify this.
