A tasty ingredient: essential oil of sweet orange
Anyone who has already taken a course or workshop with me knows that I have an “orange tic”. The Orange is one of my favorite fruits to eat, but especially the fragrance always makes me cheerful and happy. I put it in cakes, in day cream, in chocolate, in a body bar, in stews and even in deodorant. I like to go into this special fragrance a little more.
Essential oil of Sweet Orange (Citrus Sinensis/Citrus aurantium var. dulcis) is obtained by cold pressing from the ripe skin of the fruit. The Orange belongs to the Wine Rutaceae family and is widely grown in the Mediterranean. It is a small evergreen tree with shiny leaves and fragrant white flowers. Because pressed citrus oils can contain pesticide residues, you should choose organic essential oils.
The fragrance is of course very well known: fruity, lively, fresh and also sweet. It is widely used in the perfume industry. The Sweet Orange is an antidepressant and soothes with nervousness and stress. Not so crazy that it makes me happy! In addition, it stimulates digestion and has antiseptic and antifungal action. It is therefore used in aromatherapy to disinfect the environment and in cold and bronchitis. In skin care, it is applied to oily skin and wrinkles and to soften cracked skin. After all, it supports the renewal of skin cells.
