A walk along the beach of a shallow river in the Devonian
Frank and Ronny walk on the beach of a shallow river. To enjoy the beautiful views in the dense forest of the Late Devonian, they are further away from the water.
They both pulled binoculars out of their backpacks. This way, they can draw everything closer in detail and they also see better what is moving in the river.
In contrast to the early Devonian, the forest is now densely covered. To Frank's amazement, huge tall tree trunks made of wood are now also visible.They still have no branches. An impressive fanned fern grows on top. Ferns are therefore the first plants that spread from water onto land, after algae and liverworts.
Seeds are also transported by wind in the Late Devonian. Sometimes they just float past the men.
