A week without water! It will only happen to you. Three years ago, our village Blajel in the centre of Romania was connected to water mains and sewerage. Several times a day pumping, cleaning, salt and chlorine tablets, nothing helped. But no worries, we now had water pipes and were no longer dependent on electricity. Because yes, the electricity fell quite often. and then the pump did not work either. But you get used to that and you learn how to do it.

The water pipe did excellent service, although we sometimes sat without it for a day because a tube had jumped or there was just very little water. It was also what they call “domestic water” here and No drinking water. But I didn't hear you complain about it. Every store sells 6 litres bottles for less than a euro and there is also a good natural source further down the village. Soon the municipality came up with the idea to connect to a much larger water net that would also have better water. That there would be a good shot of chlorine in it, they took on the buy. You could drink it without getting sick of it.

Last week it was stated on the municipal Facebook page that Thursday 14 March the water would be temporarily closed to the connection to the water supply of Medias. “We will make sure that the shutdown is as short as possible”. That asked for action. Quickly turned all the washing, showered, filled the bath and replenished the supply of drinking water. I had quite a few outdoor activities at the end of the week, so everywhere I go to the toilet before departure.

BUT THE WATER STUDED FLOOD.

Well it does happen. more often that there is such a kind of announcement and only part of the village is without water and it usually lasts no more than a day. Maybe I would have just missed it because I was gone so much. So Monday, because I really needed a shower, let the bath drain. How much junk there is still in domestic water. A layer of slippery on the bottom and a dirty brown limestone. So first scrubbing and just a big turn for the bathroom.

Show more
