Abandoned campsite somewhere in belgium
With no less than 70,000 nights a year, this campsite was once one of the largest campsites in the Flemish Ardennes. For a number of years, the domain has only been desolate. According to some sources, a new holiday park would be coming and it would open its doors in 2020. In 2018, nothing has changed yet and there is no sign of improvement.
In the 70s, a lot of earth is needed to build a big road. Part of it came from the plate that later the campsite will be located on. Sandy fields are excavated there to serve as building material. The well that remains fills with water and is still a recreation area to date. A campsite was set up nearby in the 80's. In 2010, the campsite became very loss-making. The operator decides to stop operating in December that year. Tourism in the Flemish Ardennes does not attract enough, it sounds. After months of unsuccessfully searching for a buyer, the agency decides to clear the campsite permanently. In June 2011, the last visitor left the campsite and remains empty. In the end, the city costs up the campsite and looks for an operator. To date, the terrain is deserted.

With zen 2en, we set out to visit an abandoned campsite. We didn't know what was in store for us and if it would be interesting. Once arrived, we drove into the car park. We were very quickly confirmed that the site was abandoned, in the parking lot had been nothing for years but done of maintenance. Oddly enough, the battle trees were open.
ik ben in de jaren'70 geboren in de Vlaamse Ardennen en ben er ook getogen.
Toch herken ik het gebouw niet.
De vijver doet me denken aan de visvijvers in Elst (deelgemeente van Brakel)
