Achieve goals by reward and punishment
We are driven by reward. If our state would look like a flat line, when we reward ourselves, we modify that line by a convex curve that goes up then down. Our vices show that the human body is used to being rewarded and looks for that reward again and again. This should intrigue us because what it says is that we are driven by rewards and we stay away from punishment as a habbit of our spirit. This is how, if you would have a pasture with dry land and flowers on one hand and land filled with mud, on the other hand, we choose our path to avoid the mud and to walk on beautiful land filled with flowers. So, if you want to be successful reward yourself when you do good, and punish yourself for your errors. Even feeling sorry is a punishment, and even feeling exited is a reward. But, for more rational beings you can even set your reward according to what you have accomplished. For example if you had a very productive conversation with your friend, you can reward yourself in the same manner by having a tender talk with your loved one. And so on! Or if you want to punish yourself for smoking, you could do 20 crunches for each cigarette you've smoked. This is how we design our life's map to conquer our goals, by applying punishment or reward when we need to!
