Let’s view change from a Darwinian point of view. Darwin stated the fate of the species was determined how well the ‘fit’ is. Interpreting this statement you might think the strongest or the fastest species would survive. But actually he was not referring to speed or strength but rather of adaptability. Adaptability would determine the fate of the species.
Adaptability in the workplace means being able to change in order to become successful. Employees in a leadership role often have to manage unusual circumstances where there are no explicit instructions. They must learn how to rest upon their own judgment and have the confidence to make difficult decisions.
But what are the types of adaptability in Leadership roles?
· Ability to learn; Collaboration, critical thinking and continuous improvement.
· Persistence; Resilience, Positivity and Motivation.
· Resourcefulness; Creativity, Innovation and Problem Solving.
· Curiosity; Open-mindedness, active listening and diversity.
Adaptability is important because as new technology evolves, companies established in the “old ways” may have difficulty staying relevant. Employers are looking for employees who demonstrate strong adaptability skills and become company leaders. #leadership #adaptability #MBA #yoorsstory
