Aesthetics in Photography - Lesson 17 Yoors Photography Course
Aesthetics - what is that actually?
In estetica, the study of aesthetics, tries to figure out what it takes to make people find something beautiful. Why do people like something in nature? Why does one person like a photo or work of art and another doesn't?
Aesthetics are therefore the experience of a sense of beauty in general.
Aesthetics in Photography
So the aesthetic in photography is the experience of beauty in a particular photo. That's very simple on the one hand, because it's a personal opinion. You will experience a sense of beauty when viewing a particular photo. or you don't experience that feeling.
Yet there are all sorts of 'rules' within photography that help determine if something is a 'good' photo. The question is whether a 'good' photo always goes along with an aesthetic photo.
In my lessons I have already told you a lot about balance in lighting, the power of depth of field, composition rules, and point of view and perspective and so on. Fortunately, I have said before that it is also good to let go of those rules sometimes, because then you will put the peculiarity in the picture. And in the end it's really about what you like.
