African mask crafting
In Africa, masks have been worn at parties for years, where there is extensive dancing with masks on. For example, when celebrating a birth, adulthood, a marriage, but also at a funeral. They are also used in hunting, cleansing, expulsion of ghosts or war with another tribe. With a mask dance, the Africans have so diverse rituals. Today, masks are still being made, but not always just for the rituals, but also more for art.

Usually they are made of wood and look like a human or animal, but it often has abstract shapes. The decorations are stylized and are not complicated. Very nice to make one yourself, so! The great thing about it is, that anything goes and goes with an African mask! There are no rules, so nothing is right or wrong. Crafting a mask according to your own feeling, just how you want it, is not super cool?

The white papier-mΓ’chΓ© masks have a thin felt layer and have a wide elastic band. They are ideal for dyeing or decorating and therefore also really portable! More info
