Alcohol consumption...
What I regularly wonder and what I am often confronted with.
Why is alcohol consumption seen as “normal” in our society?
Receptions, parties, dinners,. it's like I'm an alien when I ask for an alcohol-free drink. Oh. don't you drink? Even my daughter, who doesn't drink alcohol because of her beliefs, recently found it strange that I didn't take a glass of Cava during the opening of a new store. It is so ingrained in us that we consider alcohol to be normal and that everyone drinks except the Muslim community. We do not understand that someone chooses not to drink alcohol themselves, because then there must be a reason for it. Preferably also an imposed reason. belief or medication or a former addiction.
I only drink an alcoholic drink very occasionally, the reason I drink it is because I like it and want to enjoy the taste. I don't want a headache afterwards and I don't want to be miserable after a night out. I don't need alcohol to have fun either, I can just do it like this. That's a gift that just sits inside me.
I hate the taste of most beers, just like the taste of bitter drinks. So they are already falling off. there are still a lot of sweet drinks left, but a sweet drink also often tastes like lemonade. One more reason to just enjoy my mocktail without the headache.
So I found this link very appropriate.

Celebrated a lot of party last Saturday, had wine (glass or six I think), felt nothing of it and done just as crazy as without. Super enjoyed, no headache the next day! Son (16) does not like alcohol from us and he also enjoyed it to the fullest. But indeed, you don't “owe” anyone accountability for why you don't want to consume alcohol.
