Bees also drink, you can give them a safe drinking bowl in your garden.
A single bee has the power to pollinate at least 2,000 flowers a day with their little wings, their wings beat 10,000 times a minute, they carry pollen, and they assist us in our food supply. All that work makes the bees feel thirsty, especially on a hot day.
Bees must have access to safe water sources, they often risk drowning in bird pools or being eaten over the rivers and lakes by birds, fish, frogs and other animals. This is why they fly so often around our laundry lines and above pools and garden ponds.
Kim Flottum, editor of the Bee Culture magazine, writes in her book The Backyard Beeker: A Starter Guide for keeping bees in your garden. βWater is used to dissolve crystallized honey, to dilute honey in the production of larvae food, for cooling in hot weather, and for a cool drink on a hot day.β
