For years now, I am grateful to use the free version of the #Adidas Runtastic app. Monitoring the distance walked before that has been done well and well, with intermediate times and an overview of mileage times, altitude differences and ambient temperature and weather conditions. Especially with a view to last year's marathon, no superfluous luxury to get higher, faster and stronger. I put the registered values next to my food diary and get to know the way of most resistance by doing.

The three stripes regularly write out challenges, so-called challenges in which a certain distance and/or duration must be accomplished periodically in activity. When participating and completing, you will receive points in the Creators Club as a participant. The same registration system is linked to the Adidas Store, so you will receive certain discounts for points. For 2022, for example, I chose the paid version of Runtastic free of charge and discovered a new range of possibilities.

For example, I have been able to choose different ways of guided - and therefore more focused - training for two weeks. Setting a workout goal yourself based on a distance to run, a predetermined time and even a desirable number of calories to burn gives my training run a more personal character. Also improving a previously run route - according to the principle #beatyesterday - in terms of (between) time in a race against yourself is possible. The interval training has three degrees and, as with setting a target pace, provides auditory support that keeps you informed of a desired acceleration, maintaining your pace or even stepping on the brakes if there is reason for this. I am currently working on a training schedule with the aim of running 10K within three quarters of an hour. The app proposes different forms based on five running sessions per week and also links strength and core training to this schedule in the Training Environment, complete with instructional videos and voice guidance.

Other benefits of the paid app is the ability to choose Story Running. The headline shot is a picture of the 40-minute run through the streets of New York with exciting tales of the metropolis and Pushing the Limit lets you pull out all the stops for half an hour by demanding even more gas on the lollipop during acceleration. Mindfullness, breathing, but also follow-up stories in which you play the lead and run yourself (from Alcatraz, from a wildfire or unknown pursuers) are examples of the choices in this section of the application

Absolute records, such as fastest kilometers, longest distance or altitude, calories burned are recorded and can be seen and sharpened at a glance. The most satisfying is the overview as far as I'm concerned. Here you can choose which activity (apart from running, the paid version also records hiking, hiking, cycling and swimming) you want to compare per unit of time (day, week, month or year). As an example on the right 2021 in blue vs. 2020 in brown.
