An anticlimax for Joost
Joost had been looking around with some distrust all day. The whole house was clean. - squeaky clean. Not that it was otherwise a pigsty, but the cleaning was usually carried out phased and with some restraint. That was good enough, also according to Loes. But today it was different. Loes had gone through all the rooms like a whirlwind and even bothered to dust on top of the cabinets and skirting boards. On top of the cabinets! Joost didn't know how he was.
He wasn't used for the cleaning. Not that he was too bad for that, of course they both contributed an equal part in their household. But today he was sent to the store with a long shopping list, which Loes gave him a little skittish.
“Just do those errands, and I'll clean a little further. I'm in it now.” She had said that, and with a strangled face, Joost had accepted the list. He had read something about a big spring cleaning, but in recent years he had not noticed much about it and felt no need to raise the subject.
Arme Joost!
