For a long time I have seen and owned several gamer mice, of excellent quality.

Going through brands such as Razer, Logitech, Corsair, Gx Gaming among many others.

But I haven't come across one as visually appealing as the Starlight-12 Poseidon, a peripheral that definitely has to be on your desk.

It is an ultra-light wireless gaming mouse and a continuation of the Starlight-12 line. Weighing less than 45g, it is among the lightest gaming mice available to date. It has the same symmetrical shape and the same honeycomb-shaped magnesium alloy housing as previous versions, but the main difference is that it comes in blue color.

It has a symmetrical low-profile shape with two side buttons on the left made of matte black plastic. The honeycomb shell is made of solid magnesium alloy and has an embossed filigree on the left and right buttons, mouse wheel and CPI button.

Feels very well built. No noise, loose parts, or wobbling. Like the other Starlight mice, the Poseidon has a magnesium outer shell that does not flex at all. The bottom of the mouse is a high-quality plastic called Ultem, which allows the RF signal to escape.

Since the bottom is plastic, it exhibits some flex if you apply pressure, but this doesn't affect regular use. Finalmouse announces that this model has some improvements in its quality control

The weight of this mouse is 42g, but it also indicates that the weight may vary around 2 grams due to manufacturing tolerances. The exact weight obtained was 4374 grams.

Overall, the virgin grade PTFE and the mouse's light weight create a very smooth glide experience. However, they make a slight scratching sound directly on a desk and there are some sharp edges.

You can use the CPI button below the scroll wheel to toggle between the four preset CPI settings. In addition, there is a power switch on the bottom of the mouse.

The left and right click buttons use Kailh 80 GM switches, which are rated at 80 million clicks.

The scroll wheel is precise and quiet to use. It has a rubber finish that adds grip. The scroll wheel on this unit is more aligned to the center than previous versions of Starlight

conclusion

It's an excellent ultralight gaming mouse. At 44 g, it is among the lightest gaming mice available on the market. Its magnesium alloy outer shell feels very well built and sturdy.

Performance-wise, it has exceptional click latency and very low takeoff distance. You can switch between four preset CPI settings using the button behind the scroll wheel. High-quality feet and cable provide an excellent gliding experience on both mousepads and desks without any dragging.
