Unheard raises the alarm again about abuses she sees in the livestock industry, now especially about the transport of (milk) cows and calves. Thanks to Unheard, another shocking footage of structural abuses in the livestock industry under the watchful eye of NVWA. This time it's about cows and calves.
The footage shows animals that can no longer walk, are ill or injured, and are violently loaded and unloaded trucks by hitting, kicking and surging them.
This week, House of Animals will report animal cruelty and violation of the rules of the European Transport Regulation against both Firma Dane en Zoon and Teus Kuiper.
The footage was taken last October. and in January and March this year. There are cattle dealers, transporters and ranchers kicking the animals, hitting them hard with sticks in all possible places and repeatedly giving electric shocks to the animals all over the body.
Filming was done, among other things, at Firma Dane and Zoon's livestock collection site in Oudemolen (NB). You can see how cows that no longer have the strength to get up are forced to do so using sticks, shovels, electric guns and a pitchfork. People are also not afraid to lift and drag the animals with a forklift.
Undercover footage from other livestock collection sites also shows numerous shocking offences. At Teus Kuiper in Hoogblokland (ZH), the transporters hit cows' heads harshly with a stick. The animals slip, are crippled or have lost a lot of weight.
“Turning the tail” gives pain to force a cow to get up. The animals do not have to expect protection from these alarming practices from the supervisor, because the NVWA does not appear to be present in the situations shown by Unheard.
Tribute to the people of Onheard who once again show how ruined the livestock industry is . Camera surveillance is not enough. The livestock industry needs to be reduced more than drastically.
