Scientists create hybrid monkey-human embryo. A team of American and Chinese scientists for the first time managed to create embryos consisting of cells of both humans and monkeys. The scientists share their work in the scientific journal Cell. Hybrid embryos are not well received by all colleagues. The aim of the embryos is to find a new way to develop organs for people who need a transplant. 'One of the major problems in the medical world is that demand is much greater than supply, 'says Professor Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, one of the researchers. Also, his colleague Insoo Hyun sees little ethical problems with the hybrids, because they serve a 'lofty humanitarian goal'.

Despite the necessary ethical concerns, this kind of research could one day result in the breeding of human organs in animals. In mid-2019, it was already echoing around: scientists would have injected human stem cells into apenemembryos.

The controversial experiment did not go entirely surprisingly as all over the world. Now the researchers have published their research results. And no matter how insane such experiments may seem, the researchers are sure that one day this will give a solution.

The perfect man
