Cornald Maas speaks five unique and diverse theatre personalities for the portrait series Volle Zalen - in order of broadcast: actor Gijs Scholten van Aschat, mezzo-soprano Tania Kross, singer Frédérique Spigt, theatre maker Adelheid Roosen and comedian Peter Pannekoek.

For seven seasons, Volle Zalen has been making intimate, moving and personal portraits of theatre personalities. As a contender for a Televizier Star Impact 2022 - for the episode with the now deceased singer and songwriter Jan Rot - the program will start in October with a new series of portraits that matter.

Tania Kross lived in the Netherlands for many years, but has now returned to Curaçao with her husband and children, where she lives in a house with her parents.

Cornald Maas traveled to the Caribbean island where Kross is working on an opera. How are her personal life and the eventful history of the island connected? Kross reveals to Maas the mission with which she returned to the island.

Operatic talent show ARIA returns at MAX

Broadcaster MAX is looking for the new opera star in the Netherlands in the second season of the opera talent show ARIA. In the program, ten talented candidates sing the most famous arias every week and they are judged by a professional jury. After eight weeks, the denouement is: who is the greatest opera talent in the Netherlands? The candidates are accompanied live musically by the National Youth Orchestra conducted by conductor Leonard Evers. The presentation is in the hands of Dionne Stax. ARIA will be on display from Sunday, October 2 at 8:30pm at MAX on NPO 1.

Opera is more than just singing, it's about conveying a story and emotions: who controls all facets of the opera profession? The program includes well-known arias from operas such as Carmen, La bohème, Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro. Every week, the ten opera talents are dressed in special couture and perform their role in modern set pieces with the latest techniques. The candidates will be judged by three judges: chairman Rosemary Joshua, opera singer Tania Kross and classical music connoisseur Floris Kortie.

Already while studying at the conservatory, opera singer Tania Kross stood out by winning various competitions. After her studies, she toured all major international concert halls. New to ARIA is Floris Kortie. He is connoisseur and professional lover of classical music and presenter of the music program Podium Klassiek.
