Ariel's story.

At what age did they find out that Prince Eric was never in love with Ariel?
At the beginning of the film “The Little Mermaid” the sailors of the crew sing a song that reads:
“I'm going to tell you a story about Mar that will really help you, if a mermaid you hear singing it will put a special spell on you”
So when Eric and Ariel meet, she sings for him. Of which Prince Eric is fascinated by hearing such a beautiful and exquisite voice.
That's why when Ariel loses his voice, the prince doesn't notice so much about his physical appearance. At the end of the film, when Ariel manages to get his voice, he starts singing and the prince quickly feels “in love” again.
So for this very reason, for Ursula, Ariel's voice was a very powerful weapon, since Ursula was a witch and with Ariel's voice she could cast a spell on anyone she wanted.
