#Weetjenog ATWT started as a black and white soap on April 2, 1956, the transition to color came in the mid-1960s, with the last black and white episode on February 17, 1967. The 10,000th episode was on May 12, 1995. In total there have been some 14,000 episodes.

The only character to play from the beginning was Nancy Hughes, performed by Helen Wagner (Wagner died on 1 May 2010 at the age of 91). Bob Hughes, performed by Don Hastings, has been playing in the series like Lisa Grimaldi (Eileen Fulton) since 1960.

On November 22, 1963, a broadcast was interrupted after it was announced that President John F. Kennedy had been shot.

Since the creation of RTL 4 in 1990, ATWT has been on display there. As of 20 August 2007, new episodes were broadcast on RTL 8. The next day there are repetitions on RTL 4 in the morning and at 17.00 hours. The broadcasts in the Netherlands were about a year and a half behind US broadcasts. This became somewhat less over time, because ATWT in America is often not visible on public holidays and with major sporting events.

On May 1, 2010, Helen Wagner, the only remaining original actor, died.
