Only 254 days to Lisbon - we are well on schedule. With the weekend ahead, it's free on Friday and we'll make an early break. When the sun has only just come out, we're already in the quadricycle to go freewheeling along the North Sea coast. Just under forty minutes from the lighthouse (which I visited yesterday) to the Black Path and back.

The temperature is anything but January. The sun's rays meander right through the cloud cover. Surfers go wild in the surf and hordes of dog owners are excited, bossy, moreover. Quite a bit of recreational running in both directions and a negligible breeze blowing your head empty. I let one set the pace and move along to the beat of my music. Chosen for the occasion #DepecheMode to enjoy the silence in support - people are people, right.

When I got home, I took a shower and then went for a walk to stretch my legs. On the way, I saw the DHL delivery person with my new shoes, but they wouldn't knock on my door until a few hours later. Ter Werve, the estate where we stayed, is ready for winter and summer at the same time. Felled giants, rising flowers and buds everywhere. Soothing and full of inspiration for the rest of the day.

With this weather outlier, I wonder how much there will be a big difference in temperature between the end of September in the Netherlands and the beginning of October in Portugal. The advantage of my outlook, however, is that it is expected to get warmer and I will acclimatize along the way. Paying close attention to my hydration is the motto. Thirst to say it: hungry for more. Now get something to eat.
