Follow-up story Kalle en Pietje, part 59
Pietje goes to the common dining room for the first time in the afternoon. This will be her first contact with the fellow prisoners. In itself an exciting affair of course. But now that she's so abruptly separated from Kalle, all the more.
She is led to the green table in the middle of the dining room. That table is reserved for newcomers, who can then be viewed well by the others. Pietje feels really watched and absolutely uncomfortable. The appetite quickly perish her in this way. In addition, she has severe pain in her elbow.
There's been a pretty loud reaction to her presence. Questions of “Who are you?” and “Why are you sitting here?” to “Are you in pain?” and “Is that plaster from your arrest injury?” pass the review. Pietje does not know what to do and feels her head slowly turning red.
