Autumn Watch Box

It has become a great work of art! When you look in this peepbox, it feels like you're in the fairy-tale gnome forest. You can see the leprechaun woman in front and the male in the back. Also you can see cute hedgehogs (made from pine cones) standing among the mushrooms. It looks cozy!

You don't make a peepbox yourself in half an hour. It takes some time and some imagination, but then you have something! Something that will help you and others can enjoy. Have you ever made a die-box?

Marlin, my creative sister-in-law, made a great viewing box along with her granddaughter. Do you want that, too? If you start with a regular cardboard shoebox, some old magazines, decorative paper and some small junk, you're already over half. A representation of cute figures is then quickly made.

  • Cut/cut a peephole in the side of the shoe box. Do not make the hole too large, the smaller the more exciting!
  • Decorate the outside of the box with beautiful decorative paper, stickers, ribbons, buttons, etc. Paste nice pictures or make drawings on them. There are no guidelines for that, as long as it looks cozy!
  • Cut or cut open the lid and stick thin transparent (kite) paper or blotting paper over it. For example, colored light can go in.
  • Then you start with the back wall on the inside. Marlin has taped the back wall with a picture of forest from a magazine. But a different background picture (e.g. sea, cityscape, shopping street, park) is also possible.

  • Then paste the side walls, and then make the foundation. In this peepbox, glossy paper and glitter paper are pasted. It shines like a mirror, the light reflects nicely in it.
  • Place toy dolls or other figures, e.g. smurfs, lego dolls or as here 2 gnomes. They want to live in this fairytale forest! Glue them with good glue.
  • Make it cozy with pieces of moss, twigs, pine cones, cute hedgehogs of pine cones , mushrooms (Wibra), etc. Don't you have any wooden mushrooms? Then use door knobs and paste them with felt, glue 2 bricks on top of each other or paint a cork with such a wide top as mushroom. Also, you can glue a hat from an acorn or half a walnut bark on a stick, to make a mushroom. There are so many possibilities!
  • Stick everything tightly and put the lid on the box. Keep the box under the light if you want to look into it. For an extra effect, you can also put a tealight on batteries somewhere in the forest. Tip: Let many people enjoy your peepbox!

I'm so curious about your peepbox! Will you let me take a look, too? (ilse@deknutseljuf.nl)
