Every year in mid-July the Balaton Sound festival takes place. Balaton Sound plays mainly electronic music on the shores of Lake Balaton at the Hungarian seaside resort of Siófok 24 hours a day.
Balaton Sound has been named the best medium-sized music festival in Europe several times. In 2020, from 8 to 12 July, the festival will be full again at Lake Balaton! At night, it's a full-party at Balaton Sound. During the day, the banks are one large chill-zone of swimmers and floating air beds. In the afternoon, the first performances begin as a crescendo for the next night.
Balaton Sound is not that well known abroad yet, but it won't take that long. Summer temperatures, stages and tents a few steps away from Lake Balaton and a fantastic atmosphere make Balaton Sound the favourite festival of many.
The festival site is not located in Siofok itself, but in the small resort of Zamardi, 5 kilometers south of Siofok, the main seaside resort of Lake Balaton. Siofok is easily accessible from Budapest by train and bus. From Siofok a special oldtimer Balaton Sound bus leaves every half hour to the entrance of the festival grounds but you can also take the regular train to Zamardi. The masses show the way by themselves. Of course, you can also use a rental car to discover more of the surrounding area.
