Best music award in the Netherlands
Not a popularity poll, but a stubborn jury (in varying composition) who bravely sails on its own quality compass. The very best Dutch album of the year is MERDEKA by Animistic Belief. The Rotterdam duo won the 3voor12 Award 2022

“This is a masterpiece, an album that no one else could have made. The two from Animistic Beliefs incorporate their mentality and identity into the album in a unique way. The way in which you hear their Moluccan and Vietnamese origins in such adventurous music is completely unique. This means that it is a broadening and deepening of the canon, both in the Netherlands and in the electronic music world internationally. It's a very exciting album that takes you into their world, a record with a beginning and an end that can be heard anywhere in the world, and people will be overwhelmed by it. MERDEKA is a physical experience. It may not be an accessible album, but it is certainly intended for many ears.’
