The national bird count is this month. Always a nice bright spot for me in this often somewhat gloomy month. I feed the birds all year round and so I have a colorful collection of guests in my garden. In 2021, nearly 200,000 people participated and counted more than 2,750,000 birds.

How does the bird count work?

Log in to the website: wwwvogelbeschermingnl/vogeltelling Download bird count form with clear bird images. Sit for half an hour and count the number of birds you see sitting in your garden or on your balcony. Birds flying over do not count and you just have to record the highest number you see sitting at the same time.
