The holidays are over, the holidays are still far away and you may have already let go of your first good intentions, which makes this third Monday of January the most depressing day of the year. At least that's what the media has made us believe in our society since 2005, because scientists think about it quite differently.

Blue Monday would have been calculated via a formula by psychologist Cliff Arnall, but according to scientists, this formula really doesn't make sense. It also appeared that the entire Blue Monday Campaign was devised by a PR agency that acted on behalf of Sky Travel. Academics were offered money to make the campaign more credible.

So Blue Monday or Blue Monday is a day to just let go, because this invented day is not only disrespectful to scientific research, it also makes fun of the seriousness of depression, because depression can't just be solved with a happy tune or a trip abroad.

The only positive thing is that “blue Monday” is used by some to raise awareness of mental health problems, such as clinical depression. But if it depends on science, this “blue Monday” may soon disappear from the calendar.
