Bonnie Pointer, one of the four Pointer Sisters, died Monday morning at the age of 69. The news was reported by her sister Anita to the TMZ website. It's not clear what the cause of death is.

“It is with great sadness that I have to announce that my sister, Bonnie, died this morning,” Anita Pointer told TMZ. “Our family is very upset. In the name of the entire Pointer family, I ask you to pray for us. Bonnie was my best friend, and we talked every day. I miss her already, but one day I will see her again.”

The four sisters Ruth, Anita, Bonnie and June began singing in their father's church in the 1960s. From him they inherited their love for gospels. The four sisters received their first hits in the early seventies. They are best known for the hits' Jump 'and 'I'm So Excited'. The band recorded five records and won several awards, including a Grammy, until Bonnie decided to pursue a solo career in 1978. She signed with Motown, where she released two records. After a fight, Bonnie left the legendary record company. She found a new record label, but the great success of yesteryear never returned.

In 1994, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with her sisters. Bonnie is the second Pointer-sister to die; June died in 2006.
