A raw, palpable and trembling story of withered feelings, difficult to recover, in which "normal" people move, each carrying a secret cross. Even the city where everything happens, never mentioned but deeply loved (Livorno), acquires a depth and almost becomes one of the characters of the narration.
The story of the unspoken and of missed opportunities, made up of sensations, smells and passions, all played out on two temporal levels, one current and one past and epistolary.
A pure distillation of life.

What are you thinking, what are you looking for, your father was old, your father got worse, your fatherdied, stop, that's enough, there is nothing else, it is life, it is an understandable sorrow, imagined for some time. No it is not.
He feels the bulging letters in his pocket. His father is no longer just the grandfather who pushed Loris's wheelchair from school to home, who read the newspaper on the bench, now he has cuffs rolled up on his forearms and a Modì mop, now he's young, maybe he loves someone who isn't his mother, an oval-faced woman with wavy hair.
