Good evening dear readers, tonight a poem about 35 years of Broadcasting Tholen.

Broadcasting THOLS 35 years...

I'm taking you back in time, and I think the name Radio Sloth is probably hidden somewhere in your memories.
I am now talking about the year 1985: the year of the creation of Stichting Lokale Omroep Tholen.

From a studio in Regentessestraat, the first sounds were played by radio via cable to the listeners.
Gosh, in 1985, only 30% of the residents had a connection, well, those are figures you really don't expect anymore.

After less than three years, Sloth, as the first local broadcaster in the Netherlands, got a licence to broadcast over the air, what a first, really awesome!
Yes, via antenna on 106.5 FM, from the church tower of the Grote Kerk in Tholen the signal goes and even to date this is still the place...

Wonderful, I even see some kind of symbolic value in this...
The sending of a message also takes place in the church and for all mankind here on earth.

I wander again...
It is now 1989 and some squatting between employees and management caused the broadcasts to be stopped, but luckily a new start was made in 1990.

Yes, they could continue after shaking up the organization and also because of the grant they could continue to exist.
The Regenstessestraat was abandoned and they went to the Botermarkt for no less than nine years.

After that the Voltstraat came into the picture and with an official opening by Burgemeester van der Munnik the name Sloth was replaced by Omroep Tholen.
The years went on and the broadcaster continued to 'desire' growth.

In December 2014 the cable newspaper Omroep Tholen TV literally came into the picture and Mayor Nuis was for this festive step of the party...
Meanwhile, the website grew www.omroeptholen.nl to the most watched news site of the region, well that could also be included.

But we're not there yet, no, we're not done yet.
The volunteers of Omroep Tholen were named “The Volunteer Group of the Year” in 2008.

Great yet and you know... in 2014 the digital broadcasts started on TV and since then our local broadcaster has been digitally seen and heard in a large part of Zeeland...
Well, folks, that's beautiful, it can charm me.

Meanwhile, the broadcaster has moved to the energy road 17 in Tholen and 35 special years have passed, full of growth, which has now become apparent.

After all my words, I actually have one important 'item' to share.
It's about a lady and she still deserves a lot of praise!
Broadcaster Tholen has one honorary member and Jannie Ophof.

Please continue as you have done for the past 35 years.
