Broadway Show Etiquette.
If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a coveted invitation to the opening night performance of a Broadway show, this red carpet event will leave you dizzy among a stunning spectacle of stars and paparazzi. Formal wear reigns on the evening of the opening, so cover yourself in a designer tuxedo or dress, sparkling with sparkling diamonds, to evoke the glamour of yesteryear. Your clothes should be the epitome of taste and class, although a hint of theatrical whimsisis is allowed.
Clothing etiquette
- During the Run : Dressed up for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening performances, in every style ranging from cocktails to formal wear. For weeknights, a nicer corporate and cocktail attire is enough, while matinees tend to be much more casual.
- Jeans or no jeans? Wearing jeans has its advocates and opponents in putting on suitable tea clothes. Although the anti-jeans group believes denim shows a lack of respect for the theatre, the pro-jean camp claims you can dress the way you want. The truth is that during the hot summer months, jeans and shorts are so often seen as pants for weekday and matinee performances.
- Parfum : Scented products are not necessary, but if you do use them, you do so with a little bit. You'll be sitting in a busy theater for a few hours, and the person next to you may be allergic to the volatile oils of your eau de toilette. From shampoo to deodorant, perfume to aftershave, use non-perfumed products.
