Calf Month
Calves that are allowed to drink with their mother until they can live on grass . Although that seems to be the most normal thing in the world, that is highly exceptional in the Netherlands. Only with around 20 dairy farmers out of 15 thousand is this the case. In June, we want to improve this with the “Month of the Calf”.
Across the country, there are open days for consumers, knowledge sessions for farmers and various actions by animal welfare organizations and the Odin and Ekoplaza retail chains that highlight veal and cow dairy. And we want to be on TV again!

Open days and farmers' meetings In June, 9 farmers invite you to an open day at the farm. Seven of these farmers keep (part of) the calves with the mother for at least 8 weeks and the calves walk in the meadow. But there is also, for example, an open day at Boerderij Eijckenstein, where Jersey bull calves from various dairy farms are fattened.
