Luckily, Pietje finally gets to call Kalle that night. Just an hour at the telephone catching up after this whole series of developments. They are very happy to hear each other's voices for a moment. A welcome break from stress.
Kalle is impressed with her peace. She talks quite calmly about all those scary things: the dining room, the hospital, the prison doctor and even her emotions.
