Many people think bumble bees can't stab. Unfortunately, this is stubborn fable, because bumblebees belong to the same family of insects as the bees. Just like the bees, only the females of the bumblebee have a sting, which allows them to stab.

Bumblebees are less likely

So while a bumblebee can stab fine, the chances of getting a bumblebee stitch isn't that big. A bumble bee uses her stabbing weapon much less likely than bees. You can even gently take a bumblebee in your hand, but be careful that the bumblebee doesn't feel threatened, because then she gets stuck.
