In 2009, our government took on the task of providing the children of each school free of charge, a very important technological tool for their study, a laptop, it contained applications and all its educational content adapted to our country, development and adaptation of the same fact by programmers and several Venezuelan professionals in cooperation, the use of the Canaima operating system based on Linux made it possible thanks to the open and free source code. The goal of the project was to achieve technological independence. Its evolution has enabled diversification into new products such as: Canaima Educativo, Canaima Comunal, Canaima Colibrí, Canaima Forense, Canaima Caribay, Canaima CNTI, Canaima Popular and Canaima Cantv.
