Car Window Sticker
When shopping for a new car from a dealer, the car window is the first place to look in any vehicle to get a lot of important information. Window decals are a rich source of important information about new cars. Window stickers let you know exactly what is included in a particular new car and help you make sure you are getting the right options that you are paying for. Window stickers also provide a valuable historical record. It's a good idea to keep a copy of the sticker in the glove box of the car for reference purposes, such as when future repairs and specific parts are required. The sticker also documents the list of original accessories that came with the vehicle if you end up selling it. U.S. law requires window stickers, known as Monroney labels, to be placed on all new cars. This sticker must include certain information about the vehicle in these six areas:
Manufacturer's suggested retail price
The MSRP, or Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, is the manufacturer's suggested retail price at which dealers sell cars. This price differs from the price the dealer pays the manufacturer for the car, which is the invoice price. Dealers can choose to sell the car at a price higher or lower than the minimum sales price, but most buyers negotiate with dealers to get them to sell the car at a price lower than the minimum sales price in order to minimize their costs as much as possible.
Engine and gearbox specifications
The window sticker should indicate the type of engine in the vehicle with its size and number of cylinders, such as a 3,5 litre V6 or a 2,5 litre four-cylinder. The type of gearbox shall also be indicated, such as a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox.
